There are many anti aging and firming creams that come around in the market promising best results within a short span of time. But one must note that all these are not true and some have some ingredients that prove harmful and may damage the skin permanently. This results in negative results and gives unwanted consequences. So one should be aware of all these and should not buy the items which have such harmful ingredients. The harmful ingredients include aliphatic and aromatic alcohols, dioxane and mineral oils. Other chemicals which affect skin include parabens and fragrances.

The aliphatic alcohols and aromatic alcohols like methanol, ethanol, benzyl alcohol, even if present in trace amount will cause damage to the skin. This is because they are good oxidizing agents and do affect the skin by oxidating the collagen and elastin present in it. They catalyze the bacterial infection and cause allergy. The next worst thing is the parabens. Lower Aliphatic parabens till butyl paraben are added as preservatives to give long life. But one must find that these parabens, if exceed a limit cause damages even like cancer to the endocrine system. Mild effects are skin rashes. So, one must avoid such products. One might think that if the anti aging substances are added with fragrance it will do two good. But it is known to be toxic. Hence fragrant firming creams must be avoided at any cause.

Though many consider that anti aging and firming creams do many good, one must be knowledgeable enough to choose the right product and avoid those which have these harmful chemicals. Choosing the right product will only give you best results.
